Cheese Database is a catalog. 49 cheeses have a written profile: milk, texture, type, use, and a substitute. 4085 more names are listed with a country, and a place when the source list gives one.

The inventory of names and places comes from the English Wikipedia list of cheeses and the country lists it links to. Those lists are available under CC BY-SA. This site uses them as a list of names and places. It does not copy encyclopedia sentences. More names and places come from the TasteAtlas cheese catalog. More names and places come from the cheese.com cheese list. More names and places come from the Cheese Trail cheese directory. Only the name and the place are kept.

The profiles and the guides are written for this site. A protected name, such as PDO or AOP, is recorded only when that status is part of the profile. Photographs are not in this version.
